If it helps you, if I could take advantage of that discount, I'd be seriously tempted myself.

Yes, but how many DVDs do you own that you haven't watched yet? cg

Ummm.... One. It's Robin Hood--Prince of Thieves, of which I've only watched the Behind-the-Scenes feature--which is no doubt the best part --yet.

I believe it's until tomorrow. Just put what you want in the basket then enter the code where it says coupon etc and it will show you in the basket with your 20% off each item. Click on free shipping and voila. (give credit card etc if already haven't) I purchased a Deanna Durbin 6 film set, The Deceivers and Captain Blood and paid $37 for them all. That would have cost me twice as much at B&N with shipping. Deanna Durbin... I wondered if anyone still remembered her. Of course, I should have known you would. Captain Blood is nice, too. Tall, lean, dark-haired, blue-eyed Irishman - the veritable picture of Erroll Flynn. I loved the book when I was a kid. Still do. The email I received says the coupon is good through 6/25/05 - that means midnight Pacific time. Don't leave it until the last minute - last time I did, their site was veeeeryyyyy slow because I wasn't the only one who wanted to get the discount.

I love Deanna Durbin,. I used to watch her films all the time years and years ago when they used to run on Public TV. This set has one or two I'm not that fond of but one I really love and 3 I like so it was worth it, and besides it's the only issue of her work on DVD.
From what I recall of Flynn in Captain Blood he's not especially dark haired. But maybe with the remastering he is. I'm excited that it's a version 20min longer than what's been available before. I must eventually get The Sea Hawk for the same reason.

No, Erroll Flynn isn't dark-haired, at least not that I know of, but in the book Captain Blood was. I wonder how they made the movie longer - used yet more footage from the old, silent version of The Sea Hawk? I count on you to tell me - I've seen the movie but don't remember it well enough to compare anyway.

It's now back to the original theatrical cut. Ace

Yes, of course, but I wonder what they put back (or what had been cut in the first place.) But I'll have to watch the edited version first to remember anyway. Actually, I've just found out our library has the DVD. It's out, but it means I can eventually catch it on the shelf. Might be fun to watch again. Maybe not... Lead us not into temptation and all that...

It's that most wonderful time of the year: Deep Discount DVD's semi-annual 20% off sale runs from November 11-19. I was just coming over here to tell you folks about that. I decided to use the 20% off on Remington Steele season 2 myself, so it came to a total of $22.31, with free shipping of course. I've never seen season 2, but I figured for that price, I'd take a leap of faith and buy it instead of renting it. Don't tell my husband. LOL! Just kidding, I tell him everything.

Have ytou seen the First Season already? If so you know what to expect with the 2nd. (and the 3rd and 4th ) There's a change in supporting cast and the tone shifts a bit from a first brush with chemstry/frission to more "we know we have feelings but can we make it go anywhere and work?". It's one long prolonged mating dance from here to the end of the series, frustrating at times but done with charm, style and wit. And it really helps that Pierce gets better looking every successive season. Enjoy. Ace (I'm still waiting for my copy)

DVD : LONG GOOD FRIDAY, THE $9.59 DVD : DUE SOUTH-1ST SEASON $15.32 DVD : DUE SOUTH-2ND SEASON $11.48 DVD : THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR $4.82
Current damage, and there were so many things I resisted. Do I really need the Special Editions of Groundhog Day and Blazing Saddles even if they're both under $8 -- no not right now. I couldn't resist Due South, especially since both seasons on DDD costs about what Season I alone costs on Amazon. The 3rd Season was cheap too but I don't like it.

Hah, I was looking around for more DVDs (I know I know) and my used code wouldn't be accepted again so I had to search for more codes.
List of codes for those who make more than one order (some might not be valid this time around just keep plugging them in):
USATODAY NYTIMES SUPERSALE DVDPRICESEARCH SUMMERSALE YAHOO ESPN LATIMES XM
ADVENTURES OF INDIANA JONES (LBX) $ 29.04
I am so tempted. Yes, I detest Temple of Doom but it's like paying $15 each for the other two and getting paid 96 cents for the disaster in the middle. Ah but I see Amazon has their price down to $33 so if I waffle too long on DDD it will only be a $4 difference if I buy it later.
Less expensive but maybe more tempting My Favorite Year for $5.80 and Peter O'Toole does commentary!

But "My Favorite Year" at that price? How can I pass that up? And with Peter O'Toole doing commentary? Worth a listen no matter how eccentric it is, LOL! Anyhow, MFY has two of my favorite movie lines of all time in it. And thanks for the tip on "Due South." What's up with "The Long Good Friday"? Now it's 11.99. Ace, is your buying spree causing prices to go up?! Don't know if you might be interested but they have the sublimely hilarious "The Closet" with Daniel Auteuil for 9.44 and "Women in Love" in widescreen with director's commentary for 9.42. (before discount)

Those are the prices after the 20% discount. And yes with MFY, it's like getting 2 O'Toole performances for the price of one, a very cheap price. "I'm not an actor, I'm a movie star!"

<slaps forehead> Right. Even at a discount we'll all be in hock when this is over.
You never know what to expect. He'll probably go off the trolley and start talking about Hitler or something. (One of his favorite subjects.)
PS. I know YS is a fan so I'll mention that the prices for "The Avengers" sets aren't bad either.
